Family Day: Hewson’s School of Anatomy

A fellow resident of 36 Craven street during Franklin’s stay in London, Dr. William Hewson ran an anatomy school for medical students. Join us to learn about the history of medicine and what Hewson taught his students about the human body.

Most suitable for ages 11-13, although younger siblings are also welcome.

Pre-booking is essential, reserve a space for your family via Eventbrite here.

COVID-19 Safety Precautions:

– We are limiting bookings to 3 family groups. Each family will have their own table and receive their own pack of materials to use for the activities

– Activities will take place in a well-ventilated historic space with social distancing measures in place

– All staff and adult visitors (excluding those exempt under current UK government guidance) will be required to wear a visor/mask inside the House – on entry, visitors will find a station with hand sanitiser, masks, and gloves available

Virtual Alternative:

If you would prefer to learn with Benjamin Franklin House remotely, you can sign up here for a 30 minute follow-up via Zoom at 3pm BST/10am EDT on Tuesday 11 August. To complete the craft activity at home, you will need: paper (ideally black), ear buds, pva glue and a white pencil/crayon.
