Virtual Tour & Virtual Georgian Interior

Can’t visit the House? Take a contemporary virtual tour and travel back in time with the Virtual Georgian Interior below!

The Virtual Georgian Interior

Based on research, a virtual fly through of Benjamin Franklin House’s Georgian interior showing how the spaces might have looked during Franklin’s tenure. The Virtual Georgian Interior transports the viewer to circa 1770 providing a flavour of the furnishings, colours and even sounds of his London home.

Franklin was detailed about what he sent from the building but not so detailed about the items he had there, so we talked to many experts who let us digitally borrow from their collections to create this journey back in time!

Made possible by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, it complements our in-House Historical Experience, where time, place and story are evoked through performance, sound, and digital projection.  It is an integral part of a visit to Benjamin Franklin House, but we are making it available online until we can open the doors of 36 Craven Street widely again.
