Robert H. Smith Scholarship Centre
The Scholarship Centre is named for Robert H. Smith, a leader, who believed in and supported the potential of Franklin’s only remaining home. The Scholarship Centre features a full set of the Papers of Benjamin Franklin, as catalogued by Yale University.
A key Robert H. Smith Scholarship Centre initiative is the annual Benjamin Franklin House Symposium in association with the Eccles Centre for American Studies at the British Library, which features leading speakers in fields discussing issues inspired by Franklin’s life and work.
Under the banner of the Scholarship Centre, we run an active internship programme for university students from the US, UK, and farther afield, and 40 public events per year.
Since 2010, we present the annual Robert H. Smith Family Foundation Lecture in American Democracy in association with the Eccles Centre for American Studies at the British Library.
