Ink and Independence — coming soon to Bloomberg Connects

This digital exhibition explores 13 documents Benjamin Franklin wrote in the years leading up to the American Revolution. Drawing on primary source documents authored between 1774 and 1776, the exhibition traces Franklin’s transformation from imperial mediator to revolutionary actor—through his own words.

Ink & Independence brings together perspectives from across Franklin’s transatlantic world. Historians, scholars, and partner institutions from the UK, the United States, Canada, and France each respond to a single document—inviting visitors to read these letters not as static historical artefacts, but as moments of lived decision-making.

The exhibition will unfold in phases across 2026, with new material added as key documents reach their anniversaries.
